Some things you might not know about breastfeeding….

Humans are one of 4237 species of mammals, all of whom breastfeed their young. (

Pregnancy is not a pre-requisite for breastfeeding.

UNICEF estimate that 1.5 million babies worldwide die each each year because they are not breastfeed. (WHO/UNICEF Estimates, 1996)

The NHS spends at least £35million per year treating gastro-enteritis in bottle-fed babies in England and Wales. (Breastfeeding: Good Practice Guidance to the NHS, DoH 1995)
