ehv is built in partnership with Health Visitors working across a number of Primary Care Trusts. The main principle is to convert paper based Health Needs Assessments and Episodes/Packages of Care records into a portable system on hand held pocket pcs. The information is downloaded into a main database for updating of caseload files without the need for re-keying of data.

Many health visitors have expressed a need for a flexible recording and reporting system that they can access to provide them with the evaluation and assessment tools to support and evidence their work within the public health and inequalities agenda.

The eHV database also provides comprehensive case load management for health visitors on the main pc. Data can be extracted into word style reports or as raw figures for statistical analysis.

The recording/capturing of data using hand held software programmes is evident in other CPFRS products. An example of this is eStart handheld, used by professionals to record outreach visit and activity data for Sure Start Programmes. Hand held pcs are part of the daily tools in use by these programmes since April 2002.

CPFR Solutions is currently working with the NHSIA on the inclusion of a sub set of SNOMED CT codes for health visiting. As well as eGif compliant eHV is SNOMED licensed and compatible with PCT systems.
