TOP HEALTH VISITOR GOES TO CANADA TO SHARE
INFORMATION STUDY

A top British health visitor has been invited to speak to Canadian public health nurses on her research into the professional information needs that health visitors require to underpin their practice.

Cheryll Adams, the Community Practitioners' and Health Visitors' Association's (CPHVA) Clinical Effectiveness Officer, will be travelling to Toronto on 17 March to present the assessment she has carried out on the information requirements of health visitors.

She is the guest of Health Canada, the equivalent of the UK Department of Health, which has called the meeting to ascertain the key skills that the country's public health nurses need during the next decade.

She said: "I shall be extending my trip after the meeting and be visiting public health nurses, working in senior management, research and everyday practice.

"I would like to compare how public health nursing matches its British counterpart, and I hope to bring back some useful ideas and experiences."

Cheryll also works in practice as a health visitor for the Portsmouth HealthCare Trust at Rowlands Castle, near Portsmouth.
