NEW CPHVA CHAIR FOR NORTHERN IRELAND

Loretta Crumlish, a health visitor from Derry, has been appointed as the new chair of the Community Practitioners’ and Health Visitors’ Association in Northern Ireland.

Ms Crumlish, who has worked for the Foyle NHS Trust for ten years, takes on the three-year stint from Rosemary Hughes.

She said: "I am very honoured to take up this post and will do my best to represent the views of the members in Northern Ireland. We will lobby the Northern Ireland Assembly hard – and hopefully successfully – to ensure proper resources to maintain and expand community nursing."

Recently, Ms Crumlish won a £1,000 when she came third in the Quality Awards 2000 organised by the Department of Health and Personal Social Services, and the Institute of Healthcare Management. The award was for her work with the community mothers programme in Derry

The CPHVA is holding a conference entitled Community Nurses – Northern Ireland’s invisible army at the Dunadry Hotel and County Club, Antrim on Friday, 26 January.
