CPHVA MEMBERS GAIN NEW ACCESS TO COUPLE AND FAMILY SUPPORT RESOURCES

An information scheme to support everyone interested in the health and well-being of families is available from the couple research organisation, One Plus One. The CPHVA has affiliated to the One Plus One scheme - Springboard - so that in the future any member can enjoy the benefits for just 10 a year.

Among the benefits likely to be of most interest to CPHVA members is PictureKits, the picture series designed to help practitioners trigger discussions on family issues and Briefing Notes for Practitioners , key research-based messages with practical applications for practitioners working with couples and families.

Also included in the Springboard package is a quarterly mailing of The Bulletin, One Plus Ones digest of research and policy news covering family and couple-related issues. The 12 page digest enables readers to keep up to date on marriage and relationships as well as including thought-provoking articles designed to stimulate further debate.

Springboard gives access to a "members only" area of the One Plus One website from where resources can be downloaded. These resources include:

  • Relationships Today, information sheets giving a topic-based overview on couple and family life

  • An archive of The Bulletin

  • PictureKits

  • Briefing Notes for Practitioners

Other benefits include a bespoke enquiry service and automatic discounts on seminars and publications. The CPHVA has decided to take advantage of the 150 Network Membership so that any health visitor or school nurse can have their own membership for just 10.

Penny Mansfield, director of One Plus One, commented: "One Plus Ones Brief Encounters training has had an impact on the work of many health care professionals. We are delighted that through Springboard, CPHVA members are going to have access to our resources at a greatly reduced price."

ne Plus One was established 31 years ago by the eminent psychiatrist and author, Jack Dominian. It receives some funding from the Lord Chancellors Department but has to finance its projects through donations and fund-raising.
