The chair of the Community Practitioners’ and Health Visitors’ Association, Carolyn Taylor, who has 34 years of scouting experience, has been awarded The Silver Acorn – scouting’s second highest honour.

Carolyn, who lives at Whitley Bay and works as a health visitor in South Tyneside, gained the award for "outstanding dedication and service".

Carolyn said: ‘I am delighted with this award. I have been in scouting for 34 years, serving as a cub scout leader and group scout leader responsible for over 50 children and leaders with our own headquarters.’

I have also been a main member of the steering groups and production teams of two local gang shows, held district appointments and being a member of the county training team helping train future leaders, as well as being a member of the Whitley Bay district executive committee.’

Carolyn will receive the award at a presentation at county hall, Morpeth today (9 April) and an invitation to share Matins with the Chief Scout George Purdy at Windsor castle at the annual St George’s Parade given by the Queen Scouts on 27 April.
