DISTRICT NURSES IN LONDON HAVE ‘A RAW DEAL’
- LONDON CONFERENCE WILL HEAR

District nurses in London are getting a raw deal when it comes to pay, grading and career prospects, says the Community Practitioners’ and Health Visitors’ Association.
The CPHVA is holding a District nursing at the crossroads roadshow in London on Wednesday, 28 January to give district nurses an opportunity to debate the future of their profession.
Mark Jones, the CPHVA’s director said: ‘Throughout Greater London, the NHS is facing increased pressure on acute hospital beds. As a result, the importance of maintaining people independently in their own homes and communities has come increasingly to the fore.’
‘An ageing population, which wants to maintain its dignity and health, is just one factor why district nurses, who visit the elderly on a daily basis, are such a vital component of the NHS workforce.’
Pay is also important for district nurses who have experienced a drop in earnings in recent years, because they haven’t been put on the right grade for their qualifications.
